Everything about the GT3 exists for one purpose. The 4.0-litre flat-six revs to 9,000 rpm without turbochargers, the aerodynamics are functional rather than decorative, and the chassis was developed on a circuit rather than in a marketing department. It is not a car that flatters you at low speed — it rewards you when you commit.
The road that justifies it is the A-397 from San Pedro up to Ronda. Forty-nine kilometres of sequenced corners, good surface, almost empty before eight in the morning. Drive it there and the GT3 makes sense in a way it never will on the seafront in Puerto Banús.
It is worth being honest about the limits. Two seats, minimal luggage space, firm suspension and a low nose that needs care over speed bumps and steep hotel ramps. Book it for a day with a plan, not as transport for the week.
